  • Individual autonomy: our teaching team comes from different training backgrounds. Furthermore they have developed their own unique approaches. Students are encouraged to find their own teaching style.
  • Personal development: our course acknowledges that the Alexander Technique has an emotional impact. The course includes an awareness of this and the teacher's professional responsibility in this regard.
  • Movement: an experienced Alexander teacher who is a qualified Dance and Movement teacher gives specialist movement tuition.
  • Regular vocal instruction is on the programme and supports all students is developing expertise in this area.
  • Your practice: suport is given in setting up a teaching practice. One to one work with "the public" both in and out of the school is supervised. We help those who are interested in doing introductory group work to acquire skills.
  • Anatomy: living and experiential anatomy that leads directly into the Alexander teaching process is an integral part of the programme.
  • The building and its surroundings: the course is held in a building with diverse and large spaces, which accomodate a broad timetable. Outside there are panoramic views of the surrounding Lakeland countryside. Kendal and South Lakes has one of the highest "quality of life" ratings in the country.
  • Active student community: the students enjoy the unique facilities that the centre and the locality have to offer and meet outside course hours for a variety of interests.
